Stamp Designs for Mugs

In recent days I have trown lots of  cylinders in stoneware clay .
I have pressed stamps made out of plaster and many different small objects such as screw tops nails dowels etc, The impessions they leave are the basis for my mug designs. Handles were joined with slip later.

This impression was done by pressing in the top of a battery.

A paint brush top was pressed out from the inside to form these lumps

Plaster stamps cut out on the band saw for deigns to be  made later

More Package Project

For the past few days I have assembled ceramic shapes which have originated on the throwing wheel.

These  I have joined together with slip.

My idea is to create interesting 3 dimensional shapes inside shapes so as the

observer finds he or she has to really look to see the structure and all its nooks and crannies.

The veiwer  most observe and look in all the nooks and crannies

This is a vessel one built  inside  with the larger one encasing half the larger one. Again the viewer must look and explore the holes of different sizes were added last to add more interest.

This will be cleaned up  later.
